- Constructed in 1904, the building that now houses the Vintage Tavern was the original F.W. Woolworth and S.S. Kresge store in Port Huron until 1937. It was also the shipping & receiving area for Arden’s, Port Huron’s most popular women’s clothing store during the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s.
- Jeff Payton purchased the back half of the building in 2005. After spending two years of restoration, the Vintage Tavern opened on May 18, 2007. The roof area was added in 2011 to allow for outdoor seating, and to highlight the beautiful summers and breathtaking views of the area’s waterways.
- Many people, including the owners, have experienced some unusual and un-explainable phenomena over the years. On April 18, 2014, the Detroit-based “Motor City Ghost Hunters” did some research and testing of the building. Read about their findings here.
- Jeff and his wife Barbie continue to own and operate the Vintage Tavern today. We look forward to serving you as our guests in the near future and continue meeting your dining and hospitality needs.
